Description

Navigating in cold environments poses a challenge to bridge officers and could endanger the ship and those onboard. This course gives the navigators the knowledge they need to meet this challenge and is relevant to any vessel which trades above latitude 60 degrees.

This course will give you training so you can be prepared for navigation in ice and have a safe voyage.

On completion of this course you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Ocean Technologies Group, powered by Marlins, Seagull and Videotel.

Please note:  The assessment part of this course must be completed onboard ship or onshore in the offices of a registered shipping company or maritime institution. What you'll learn

After successfully completing this course the Trainee will be familiarized with passage planning in or near ice, basic rules for navigation in ice, ice types, effects of wind and current, preparations to be done before entering ice, cold weather operations, and icebreaker operations.

Regulations

This course provides parts of the underpinning knowledge required under STCW and the Polar Code for masters and deck officers navigating in polar waters.
